A refined fusion of Chinese blue and white porcelain and Western coffee culture, this two-piece set features a straight waisted cup with a low foot, paired with a 16.5cm wave-edged tray. Hand-painted with a divine hound amid banana leaves and bamboo rock landscapes, it embodies literati elegance—crafted with meticulous underglaze blue craft and dual high-temperature firings, durable for daily use and steeped in auspicious "blessings and protection" symbolism.

Appearance & Style

  • Practical Coffee Cup Silhouette: Straight waisted form with a low foot, perfectly sized for coffee/tea, balancing elegance and daily usability
  • Auspicious Divine Hound Motifs: Intricately hand-painted blue and white divine hound (symbolizing "auspicious fortune and loyal protection") paired with banana leaves, bamboo, and rock landscapes—detailed with gongbi brushwork
  • Classic Blue-White Contrast: Pristine white porcelain body paired with rich, vivid underglaze blue, creating a timeless, elegant visual harmony
  • Sino-Western Court Charm: Ming & Qing blue and white style fused with Western coffee cup design, representing "Oriental porcelain charm + literati elegance"
  • Cultural Symbolism: Divine hound represents "auspiciousness filling the door, loyal protection", making it a thoughtful gift for celebrations

Craftsmanship

  • Hand-Thrown & Bisque Firing: Jingdezhen kaolin clay is hand-thrown into the waisted cup form, then meticulously trimmed. First firing at 1250℃~1300℃ (bisque firing) creates a dense, luminous white porcelain base, ensuring sturdiness and a jade-like finish
  • Underglaze Blue Hand-Painting: Master artisans use hair-thin brushes to hand-paint the divine hound, banana leaves, and rock landscape motifs on the bisque-fired base. The "water-division" technique is applied, with 3–5 layers of gradient shading to create lifelike texture and depth in the motifs
  • High-Temperature Glaze Firing: After painting, a transparent glaze is applied over the entire cup and saucer, followed by a second high-temperature firing at 1300℃. This locks the cobalt pigment permanently under the glaze, resulting in scratch-resistant, fade-proof color that endures for centuries
  • Dual-Firing Process: Total of 2 kiln firings (bisque + glaze firing), reflecting the rigorous precision of traditional Ming & Qing imperial blue and white craft
  • Low Yield Rate: Final yield rate of 20%~25%, as the delicate hand-painting and high-temperature firing require extreme precision, making each piece a rare collectible
